Erratum

The Use of Nicotinic Acid to Induce Sustained Low Plasma Nonesterified Fatty Acids in Feed-Restricted Holstein Cows

J. A. A. Pires and R. R. Grummer

J. Dairy Sci. 90:3725–3732

doi:10.3168/jds.2006-904

There is an imprecision in the conclusions section of this article. The first sentence states "This is the first study in which known quantities of NA were infused postruminally." The sentence should read "This is the first study in which known quantities of NA were infused postruminally to Holstein cows demonstrated to be in a lipolytic state." To our knowledge, there are 3 publications in which nicotinic acid was infused postruminally (duodenal infusion at a rate of 6 g/d) to dairy cows in positive energy balance (Chilliard and Ottou, 1995; Ottou et al., 1995; Wagner et al., 1997). The authors regret the error.
