Germain Mocquot, noted French microbiologist and a contributor to ADSA scientific activities, died at his home in Versailles, March 19, 1989, at age 79.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Mocquot; four children, Isabelle, Claire, Pierre, and Bernard; four sisters, Magdeleine, Francoise, Marie Anne, and Pierrette; and numerous grandchildren.
Educated at the Institut National Agronomique and the Faculté des Sciences, Paris, he became associated with the Ministry of Agriculture at the start of a brilliant career and was sent to conduct research at an agricultural institute in Clermont Ferrand, then to Versailles at the plant disease laboratory.
Later he was assigned to the Laboratoire National d'Industries Laitières, Paris where he collaborated with Professor Guittoneau. Following this he worked at the Institut Pasteur with Professor Winogradsky. In 1939, he was appointed Direct of Laboratory at the Station de Recherche en Pomologie, Cidricole, et Laitière, Caen, Normandy.
