ABSTRACT

Awards and Honors...

John J. Sullivan, Vice President of American Breeders Service (ABS), DeForest, Wisconsin, is one of four individuals selected to receive the National Award for Agriculture Excellent (NAAE). The NAAE award, presented each year by the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA), goes to selected individuals nominated by local NAMA chapters. Persons receiving the award have distinguished themselves in agriculture, in areas of science, technology, agribusiness, public service, and private practice.

Sullivan, Vice President of the Production Division, is responsible for the development of bovine cloning technology at ABS. Progeny-tested cloned embryos of superior cattle are expected to revolutionize the beef and dairy industries in the future.

Sullivan's research for processing and storing bovine and equine semen enabled ABS to sell semen worldwide. Today his research continues with an emphasis on the development and commercialization of embryo splitting, cloning and sex-specific semen. He also conducts tests on females for several issues important to cattle producers including estrus detection and progesterone levels.
