ABSTRACT

The American Dairy Science Association published 413 technical articles averaging 3750 pages in volume 71 of the Journal of Dairy Science. These articles accounted for 90.3% of the 4000 pages published in the Journal. The rest of the pages included tables of contents, news and events, association business, student news, author and subject indexes, and advertisements. Statistical summaries are in Tables 1 and 2. Volume 71 contained 39% more pages than the 2284 pages in Volume 61 published in 1978. The Journal of Dairy Science also published two supplements—one containing 686 abstracts of papers presented at annual and regional meetings of the association and the other containing the proceedings of the Animal Model Workshop, which was held prior to but in conjunction with the annual meeting. The number of papers submitted to the Journal has increased markedly in the last 2 years. The numbers submitted in 1986, 1987, and 1988 were 474, 554, and 595.
