Industry Response to the Problems of Pathogenic Bacteria

ABSTRACT

An on-farm assessment of sources of pathogenic bacteria in milk will be presented. Control of pathogenic bacteria through on-farm sanitation and herd management programs are part of the presentation.

The processing plant environment and controls enacted in response to the menace of emerging pathogens will be reviewed. The current status of pathogen incidence and sources in dairy plants as evidenced by surveys provided by national trade organizations will also be presented.
