ABSTRACT

CALIFORNIA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY

The Los Lecheros Dairy Club of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA is one of the most active clubs on campus. The club is involved in a variety of activities ranging from sponsoring the Milk Carton Boat Race to grade school visitations.

The school year started with an "icebreaker" where new members became acquainted with the older members. A pizza feed then followed. This was a great way to begin the new year.

In addition to club meetings, the dairy club sponsored numerous activities, including the Milk Carton Boat Race. All boats were constructed out of milk cartons. They were then judged in categories such as imagination, canoes, and of course, the Titanic Award for the first to sink. This event was part of the dairy week celebration sponsored by the dairy club. Other events held during this week include the Hand-Milking Contest. The object of the contest is to see who can obtain the most milk.
