Awards and Honors...
The Kenneth L. Turk Seminar Room in Morrison Hall on the Cornell Campus was dedicated in a special ceremony on September 19, 1986. The event was attended by a host of Turk's friends and former colleagues. Turk was honored for "...his dedicated service and strong leadership at Cornell University in animal science teaching, research and extension and in the improvement of animal production throughout the world."
Turk obtained an M.S. in dairy husbandry in 1931 and a Ph.D. in 1934 at Cornell University. After a short absence from Cornell, he returned and later was appointed head of the Department of Animal Science from 1945 to 1963. He then became Director of International Agricultural Development in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, a post he held until his retirement in 1974.
Turk was widely recognized for his contributions to dairy science. He served as president of the American Dairy Science Association and was given its Award of Honor in 1967.
