ABSTRACT

Awards and Honors...

Nancy Munkenbeek has been granted the Kemin Industries Flavor Scholarship for research into palatability performance of dairy cattle.

Nancy received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her M.Sc. from the Department of Animal Sciences at Cornell University in January, 1983. Nancy's Ph.D. work will concentrate on elucidating basic principles of dairy animal taste preference for commercial concentrate rations. Her master's degree was also based on the extent of color vision in sheep.

The assistantship award is being made in conjunction with a research grant to Peter Van Soest, Cornell, from Kemin Industries, Inc. Kemin, headquartered in Des Moines, IA, is an international marketer of livestock and poultry feed ingredients, including flavorings, mold inhibitors, antioxidants, deodorants, surfactants, pigmenters, crop stabilizers, and liquid grain products.
