ABSTRACT

Isocitrate lyase activity in Lactobacillus murinus CNRZ 313 was demonstrated. In cell-free extracts partially purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation, maximum activity was at 37°C, pH 7.9, in the presence of 16 mM glutathione and 2.4 mM cysteine. The extracts exhibited an apparent Michaelis constant 1.17 x 10–2 M. Preincubation of the extract for 20 to 60 min at 40°C stimulated enzymatic activity.
