ABSTRACT

Dale E. Bauman and Robert W. Everett have been elected professors of animal science in the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University.

Bauman is an internationally recognized leader in animal nutrition research. He gained national attention recently when he announced his research findings that growth hormone triggers significant increases in milk yields in typical modern dairy cows without using any extra feed.

For his service to agriculture, Bauman was awarded the 1982 medal by the New York Farmers, a century-old organization of patrons of agriculture. The medal was presented April 13 in New York city.

Before joining Cornell in 1979, Bauman was on the faculty of the University of Illinois from 1969 to 1978. A native of Brown City, MI, Bauman holds the B.S. (1964) and the M.S. (1966) degrees from Michigan State University and the Ph.D. (1969) from the University of Illinois.

Everett is recognized internationally for his contributions to the field of dairy cattle breeding. His research has had a direct impact on the methods used in sire selection by artificial insemination by dairy farmers as a tool for genetic improvement.
