Memorial — Earl Weaver

ABSTRACT

Earl Weaver, born in Brazil, IN, July 27, 1893, died at Burcham Hills Retirement Center, East Lansing, MI, March 10, 1981. Survivors were his wife, Helen M.; two sons, John S. of Okemos and Harold S. of East Lansing, MI; two daughters, Mrs. Ruel (Marianna) Kahler of Cincinnati, and Mrs. C. William (Ruth Marie) Hager of Dayton, OH; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild.

To Weaver these simple, vital statistics as an epitaph or memorial would have been sufficient and gratifying, for he was self-effacing about his contributions and accomplishments. But the highlights of his academic and professional life, spanning more than three-score years, must not go unrecorded. To do so would be an injustice and an affront to those whose lives he touched and to society.

Earl Weaver was farm born and reared. His philosophy in the college classroom reflected the assurance, hope, and opportunities current to his early Indiana boyhood days of the 1890's and the turn of the century.
