ABSTRACT

Rupert Amann was awarded the 1982 National Association of Animal Breeders Research Award. Amann was associated with The Pennsylvania State University and, more recently, is associated with the Animal Reproduction Laboratory at Colorado State University. Described as one of the leading reproductive physiologists in the world, Amann received the citation for being one of the few classical scientists who has conducted basic research with the intent of applying it to the artificial insemination of farm animals, especially the dairy buil.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture recently announced the appointment of William W. Coleman, II, as the Director of the Dairy Industries Division to succeed Orlowe M. Osten who retired in May of this year.

Since 1977, Coleman served as Chairman of the Food Industry and Technology Division of the University of Minnesota Technical College in Waseca. He also spent 10 years at the Pennsylvania State University in the Departments of Dairy Science and Food Science and over 7 years in the dairy industry in Pennsylvania.
