Memorial — Marvin E. Senger

ABSTRACT

Marvin E. Senger, specialist in charge, Extension Dairy Husbandry, at North Carolina State University from 1963 to 1977, died August 29, 1982; he was 65.

Marvin Senger was born and reared in Iowa. A graduate of Iowa State University and the University of Maryland, he came to North Carolina in 1951 as a dairy specialist after holding a similar position in Maryland for 5 years. He was the specialist in charge, Extension Dairy Husbandry, from 1963 to 1977 with the exception of the year 1970, which he spent as extension dairyman with the Extension Service, Department of Agriculture.

Throughout his career he gave leadership in the development of production testing. In addition to the development of an outstanding program in North Carolina, he contributed to regional and national programs by serving on numerous committees, participating on many panels, and planning and conducting workshops. A major contribution was his input into the development of the Regional Dairy Records Processing Center.
