Joseph D. Shroder has been appointed technical director of the Fats and Proteins Research Foundation, Des Plaines, IL.

Shroder received a B.S. in animal husbandry from Cornell University and his M.S. and Ph. D. degrees in animal nutrition from Oklahoma State University.

After initial experience as a graduate fellow at the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies and as a research associate, Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University, Shroder held positions of: research nutritionist for Hales & Hunter Co., a feed and poultry products company; section leader, Nutrition Research — Biochemical Research Department, and technical manager, Feed and Nutrition, Corn Products Division, CPC International, Inc., a large multinational company making food, feed, and industrial products from wet milling of corn; and regional director (Eastern Europe) for the American Soybean Association.

Joseph Tobias, professor of dairy technology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has retired after 33 years with the university.
