President John Oswald's Invitation to the Seventy-Seventh Annual meeting of ADSA

President John W. Oswald

The Pennsylvania State University, 201 Old Main, University Park, Pennsylvania 16802

ABSTRACT

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our University Park campus for your 77th annual meeting June 27 through June 30, 1982. The faculty, students and administration of The Pennsylvania State University join me in extending a warm invitation to you and your families.

We at Penn State are well aware of the importance of the dairy industry. Dairying contributes about 41 percent of the total cash farm income in Pennsylvania and is the leading farm commodity in 50 of our 67 counties.

Our Commonwealth ranks fifth in the nation in milk production and second in the production of ice cream and sherbet. The value of dairy products last year in Pennsylvania was placed at $1,179,245,000.

We are proud of our Dairy and Animal Science Department and our new Food Science Department, organized six years ago. The departmental programs of research and education backstop the needs of our dairy industry.
