ABSTRACT

Honors...

Harry R. Ainslie, professor of animal science and leader of cooperative extension programs in the Department of Animal Science at Cornell University, has received national recognition for his outstanding service to the dairy industry.

The National Diary Herd Improvement Association (NDHIA) has presented its 1981 Outstanding Service Award to Ainslie in recognition of his "significant contributions to the progress of the dairy herd improvement system" in the nation. The award was presented during the association's annual meeting held recently in Fresno, CA. Ainslie was one of two so honored by this organization this year.

Ainslie is widely recognized for his work with the Dairy Herd Improvement program in New York state, which has become a model for other states. Ainslie was recognized for his work in 1979 when he received from the American Dairy Science Association the prestigious De Laval Extension Award.

Born and raised on a dairy farm in Hartwick, NY, Ainslie earned the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Kansas state University.
