ABSTRACT

Awards and Honors...

Checks totaling $32,000 for 13 dairy, 1 swine, and 2 livestock research projects, supported by Agway financial grants-in-aid during 1980–81, were presented to researchers from 10 northeastern universities at the Agway College Dairy Conference recently. The funds support 10 new and 6 continuing investigations.

Agway sponsors the College Dairy Conference each fall to bring together university researchers and industry and agricultural experts to discuss current trends and research findings. The 16 projects funded include nutritional and management areas of major concern to the dairy and liverstock industry in Northeast.

Funds are appropriated in dairy research for 6 projects on protein sources, solubility, and nutrition totaling $14,000; 2 mineral nutrition trials receive $2,500; 2 grants totaling $3,000 support studies on buffers and factors affecting yield of rumen bacteria; and $3,000 is provided for 3 studies on the effects of environment and feeding behavior.

In addition, 2 general livestock and 1 swine project are funded with $9,500.
