Marvin L. Speck, professor emeritus of North Carolina State University and author of over 350 research and technical articles, received the 1981 American Cultured Dairy Products Institute research award sponsored by Nordica International, Sioux Falls, SD.

The $1,000 award and recognition plaque was presented at the recent Institute Annual at Meeting and Conference in Kansas City. It is given each year to a college professor for excellence in cultured dairy product research.

William D. Knox, Editor of Hoard's Dairyman Magazine, received the Distinguished Service Award of 1981 from the National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB). The award was presented to Knox at the 35th NAAB Convention.

Knox joined the staff of Hoard's Dairyman as Youth Editor in 1941. After serving in the US Navy, he rejoined the staff at Hoard's and succeeded to the editorship in 1946. He was elected President and General Manager of W. D. Hoard & Sons Company in 1972.
