ABSTRACT

Robert W. Everett, associate professor of animal breeding at the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University, has received the 1979 National Association of Animal Breeders Award for his contributions to the science of artificial insemination and animal breeding.

His scientific contributions in evaluating sires used in the northeast, with resulting genetic improvement of dairy cattle, and his economic evaluation of sires and of the Dairy Herd Improvement program have had major impact on the dairy industry.

A member of the Cornell faculty since 1966, he conducts seminars for two courses and advises 15 undergraduate students. He served as acting general manager of the New York Dairy Herd Improvement Cooperative from 1969 to 1970.

Everett received his degrees from the National Agricultural College in Doylestown, PA, Michigan State University, and Cornell.

Kenneth L. Turk, professor emeritus of animal science at the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University, has been named honorary fellow of the American Society of Animal Science.
