ABSTRACT

Mr. Chairman, President Cazier, Vice President Jensen, members, and friends of the American Dairy Science Association. It's good to be back in the West. Nineteen years ago, from June 19 to 22, 1960, we met here on the campus of Utah State University for the 55th Annual Meeting of ADSA. According to the Journal of Dairy Science (Vol. 43, pages 1161 to 1185), "It was a memorable meeting. The hosts were hospitable in the best Utah tradition. The weather was comfortable and the scenery beautiful." Reading further in the account of that meeting, "Tuesday the Association and several hundred townspeople were entertained in the University field house by the famous Salt Lake City Tabernacle Choir. The voices of farmers, mothers, grandmothers, doctors, dentists, teachers, lawyers, and high school students thrilled the audience with hymns of contemporary and of sacred music . . . Secretary of Agriculture, Ezra Taft Benson, gave an excellent address . . . A Student Branch Section was formed."
