ABSTRACT

Quentin Van Winkle retired June 30, 1877, from the Ohio State University after 30 years of service as professor of chemistry. During his tenure, Van Winkle was a respected and beloved teacher of Physical chemistry and research scientist in physical chemistry of protein and nucleic acids. As a teacher and research scientist in physical chemistry of protein and nucleic acids. as a teacher and research scientist, he had close contact with the faculty and graduate students in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition. He served on many graduate committees and as adviser and contributor to several projects dealing with milk proteins.

In recognition of Van Winkle's invaluable contributions, the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry, held the Quentin Van Winkle Symposium on the evening banguet, October 13, colleaques, former students, and a number of visiting leading scientists paid tribute to Van Winkle.
