Robert M. Bechtle, 57, a research associate in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry, Kansas State University, died from a massive heart attack on October 3, 1978. He was at work in his laboratory at the time he was stricken.
Bechtle's research interests were wide, ranging in the fields of animal nutrition, food science, antibiotic activity, and microbial detection in his MS from the University of Illinois in 1959, and his PhD in food science at Kansas State University in 1970 under the direction of T. J. Claydon
He is survived by two brothers and three sisters, all of whom reside in Minnesota. Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery, Valley City, ND.
Bechtle's research interests were wide ranging in the fields of animal nutrition, food science, antibiotic activity, and microbial detection in air. In recent years, he was a research associate working with the ruminant nutrition group headed by E. E. Bartley.
