Memorial Carrold Arthur ("Iver") Iverson

ABSTRACT

C. A. Iverson, professor and former head of the Department of Dairy Industry (now Food Technology), died in Ames, IA October 4, 1978. Born near Frederick, SD on March 14, 1893, he graduated from South Dakota State University in 1915 with a BS degree in dairy manufacturing. In 1917 he received an MS degree in the same subject from Iowa State University, where he was also appointed an instructor in 1916. During 1918 to 1919 he served as an officer with the American expeditionary force in France. Following the war he was, for a short period, dean of the G. I. School of Agriculture in France and then resumed his teaching career at Iowa State where, eventually, from 1938 to 1958, he served as head of the Department of Dairy Industry. The department's transition from dairy industry to food technology was initiated during his administration.

After relinquishing the duties as department head he assisted the university administration in contacts with alumni and legislators.
