ABSTRACT

Dan G. Fox, Associate Professor of Animal Science at Cornell University, was the recipient of the 1979 Young Scientist Award sponsored by the Northeast Branch ADSA and Northeast Section ASAS. He received the B.S. degree in animal science from Ohio State University in 1962 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in animal nutrition in 1968 and 1970.

Upon completion of his graduate work Fox was appointed extension beef nutritionist at South Dakota State University, a position he held until December 1971.

In 1971, Fox was appointed assistant professor in beef cattle extension and research at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, where he developed and conducted regional beef cow-calf management schools for producers, regional nutrition and management short courses for producing beef from dairy calves, and developed the Cornell Beef Production Manual. Fox also was a co-leader for a joint Pennsylvania State-Cornell University USDA project on developing management systems for small cow-calf producers.
