ABSTRACT
One of the President's duties as specified in our bylaws is that "At the annual meeting he shall report on the general condition of the Association". It is a pleasure to fulfill this responsibility. The presidential address is usually included in our Sunday evening opening session of our Annual Meeting. As we did not have such a session this year, my report is included in our annual business meeting.
For some of our long-term members, coming to another meeting in Michigan is almost like coming home. The Association's first meeting in Michigan was in Detroit in 1926, but the first of our summer meetings on university campuses was here in East Lansing in 1927, 51 years ago. At least two Association members who attended the 1927 meeting are here today—G. Malcolm Trout of our host institution, and W. E. Krauss, Ohio. Michigan State College, now University, also hosted us in 1942, in 1955, and in 1971. For this, our fifth meeting on this campus, our hosts deserve special thanks and commendation for accommodating both ADSA and ASAS simultaneously.
