Lawrence K. Crowe, 79, professor emeritus of dairy husbandry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, died after a long illness. Professor Crowe joined the university staff in 1924, retired in 1968, and was a nationally recognized innovator and authority on dairy processing. But he was best known for his teaching. Crowe was an adviser to freshmen, taught dairy classes on the East Campus, and was in charge of the school's creamery and dairy. Crowe also was active on many University and community committees, projects, and organizations.
Crowe received his B.S. in animal husbandry in 1922 from Colorado State University, his M.S. in dairy husbandry in 1925 from the University of Nebraska, and his Ph.D. in dairy husbandry and biochemistry in 1947 from the University of Minnesota. In addition to his long career at Nebraska, Crowe also taught at Colorado State (1923 1924) and served as executive secretary for the Nebraska Dairy Industries Association.
