Charles L. Norton, professor of dairy science at Kansas State University, was honored by the Kansas Interbreed Dairy Cattle Council as the 1978 Kansas Dairy Leader, an honor reserved for a person who has made significant contributions to the dairy industry.
The award, made at the council's annual meeting, honors Norton for "34 years of dedicated service to the dairy industry and 20 years to Kansas State Universirty". The certificate and a large portrait of Professor Norton will be displayed in Call Hall, the administrative building for the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry at Kansas State. Norton was cited for his leadership and administrative capacities at three land grant universities and his untiring efforts to obtain funding for the Dairy Research and Teaching Center at Kansas State.
while at the University of Illinois, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in 1940, Norton was a member of the dairy cattle and livestock judging teams and editor of the agricultural student magazine.
