Policies and Procedures Governing the Administration of Awards in the American Dairy Science Association

ABSTRACT

Introduction

The purpose of the awards program of the American Dairy Science Association is to advance the dairy industry by special recognition of selected ADSA members for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to various branches of dairying.

Since inauguration of the cash-value program in 1937, policies and procedures have undergone considerable evolution. Suggestions from members and special studies have led to improvements. Several landmarks in the progressive advancement of the awards procedures have been reported (G. M. Trout, "The Awards of the ADSA," JDS, 44:955, 1961). Though a major improvement in guides for specific awards was in 1956, periodic review and revision are needed. Thus, this outline is a revision to coordinate and clarify further the policies and procedures and to present guidelines to facilitate administration of the awards.

Policies Governing Donated Awards

The acceptance of any donated award is contingent on mutual agreement by a donor and the American Dairy Science Association on: (A) administrative guidelines, (B) purpose of the award, (C) qualifications of nomination, and (D) eligibility of nominees for an award.
