Harry A. Keener retired June 30, 1978, after 36 yr of outstanding service on the faculty at the University of New hampshire... 20 yr as researcher and teacher in dairy science followed by 16 yr as Dean of the College of Life Sciences and Agricultural Experiment Station since 1958.
Keener was born December 22, 1913, in Greensboro, PA, son of Franklin H. and Mary A. Keener. He was graduated from high school in Carmichaels, PA, and received his B.S. in Dairy Husbandry in 1936 from The Pennsylvania State University, M.S. in 1938 from West Virginia University and Ph.D. in 1941 from The Pennsylvania State University. He married Elizabeth Hartley in 1941; they have two married sons, Allan and William.
During the first 20 yr of his career, Keener was author of co-author of over 70 scientific articles, technical bulletins, and research reports on various practical problems in ruminant nutrition.
