ABSTRACT

CLAWSON YOUNG CANNON

Clawson Young Cannon, emeritus professor of Dairy Husbandry (now Dairy Science) Iowa State University died in Provo, UT, November 3, 1977, at the age of 92. He was a 1913 graduate of Utah State Agricultural College in Logan. He was an instructor at Utah State 1913 to 1915, and instructor at Boise, ID, high school 1914 to 1920, and a member of the animal husbandry staff at Brigham Young University 1920 to 1930.

Cannon received the M.S. degree from Iowa State in 1923 and the Ph.D. in 1927. His was the first doctoral degree in Dairy Husbandry granted at I.S.U.

In 1930, he was appointed professor in charge of the Dairy Husbandry program at Iowa State and served in that capacity until his retirement from administrative duties in 1951. That fall he was granted a leave of absence to work with the U.S. Office of Foreign Agricultural Relations in Beirut, Lebanon, where he spent 41/2 years developing the dairy program of that country.
