Memorial Leo R. Fryman

ABSTRACT

Leo R. Fryman, 57, Professor, Dairy Science Extension, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, died suddenly on October 29, 1977, at Champaign, Illinois.

Fryman served the dairymen of Illinois as Extension dairy specialist from September 1948 until his untimely death. He was appointed Project Leader of Dairy Extension in Illinois in 1970.

He was a graduate of the University of Illinois where he received his bachelor's degree in general agriculture in 1948, and the Master of Science degree in dairy science in 1950. Fryman received the Ph.D. degree in animal science in 1971 from Purdue University.

Fryman provided major leadership to the dairy production record program for many years and led in developing a program to calculate records by computers. During recent years he devoted his efforts to planning and conducting effective educational programs in dairy cattle feeding, breeding, and management. His skill as a dairy cattle judge was recognized and appreciated by cattle breeders in the state.
