ABSTRACT

Magnar Ronning — 1922–1976

Dr. Magnar Ronning, 54, Professor of Animal Science and Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of California, died October 13, 1976, in Davis.

Professor Ronning was born on May 4, 1922, in Alen, Norway, and reared on a farm in Bainville, Montana. After distinguished service in France during World War II, he earned the B.S. degree in dairy production in 1948 from Montana State College. At Pennsylvania State University, Magnar earned the M.S. degree in dairy production in 1949 and the Ph.D. degree in Nutrition in 1951. From 1951–1957, Mag was Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Dairy Husbandry at Oklahoma State University. In 1957, the University of California, Davis was fortunate in attracting Mag to the Department of Animal Husbandry to strengthen its teaching and research programs in dairy cattle nutrition. Professor Ronning was born on May 4, 1922, in Alen, Norway, and reared on a farm in Bainville, Montana.
