Cal Poly's Los Lecheros Dairy Club began another year of exciting activities through student involvement in the Gold Coast Holstein Sale which averaged over $2500. Members selected consignments, prepared and presented the cattle for the sale, and served as clerks, runners, leadsmen, and barn crew. The club sponsored a donation heifer drawing, which earned the club over $800, with a registered heifer donated by RuAnn Dairy and Golden Genes, Inc. A judging and classification contest was also organized by the club. In addition, we provided a hot lunch for everyone attending.
The other fall quarter activities included the Fall Barbecue, where members played volleyball and football before sitting down to a barbecued steak dinner. The club's entry in the Homecoming Float Contest won the novelty award. We participated in Farm City Week by having a display booth in the Madonna Shopping Center parking lot. The fall quarter ended with a Christmas party and dance.
