Cannon was honored for his outstanding contribution to southern dairying during his career as professor in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at Auburn.

John H. Nelson, an officer of Dairyland Food Laboratories, Inc., since 1961, has been appointed vice president, scientific affairs, as announced by Merle G. Farnham, chairman of the board and chief executive officer.

In the new position, Nelson will be responsible for the firm's relationships with regulatory agencies and the "increased demands" of these bodies. Nelson also will supervise the company's expanding information retrieval system, which includes all of the computer operations and a new library, and continue to be associated with research and development projects and the quality control program.

Nelson joined the company in 1954 and established the research laboratory.
