Charles N. Shepardson, deceased, former dean of agriculture at Texas A&M University and a Federal Reserve System official, has been honored by the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges.
Shepardson was cited in a resolution for his "superior service and loyal support of undergraduate education." The resolution came during the association's annual meeting in Houston and was drawn up but he Resident Instruction Committee on Organization and Policy (RICOP).
Shepardson joined the staff at Texas A&M in 1928. In his 27 years there, he was head of the Dairy Science Department, then head of the Animal Science Department, and was named dean of the College of Agriculture in 1944. After 11 years as dean, he was appointed to the Federal Reserve Board in 1967. Shepardson died in his hometown of Fort Collins, CO, in August, 1975.
The resolution also cited Shepardson's RICOP membership from 1944 to 1954 and his two years as chairman.
