ABSTRACT

Donald V. Josephson, professor and head of the Department of Dairy Science at The Pennsylvania State University since 1948, retired with emeritus rank on June 30, 1975.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Josephson first came to Penn State in 1935 to work for a master of science degree. After a year as a research chemist with the Borden Co., he returned again to obtain his doctor of philosophy degree, and then served from 1945 to 1948 on the Ohio State University faculty.

When the Division of Food Science and Industry was established in the College of Agriculture in 1966, he was named chairman and he twice has been reappointed to that post, and continues to hold the position.

For 26 years, Dr. Josephson has served on the University Faculty Senate, having been chairman of a number of committees. He serves also on the University Council, which functions in an advisory capacity to the president of the University.
