ABSTRACT

In the February Journal I mentioned the status of requests for travel to the XIX International Dairy Congress. We have been unable to secure a grant supporting travel to the Congress. The only possible source of which I know is the National Science Foundation. Individual proposals must be in the Office of International Programs by July 31, 1974, for consideration.

Your Executive Committee met April 5 and 6 in Champaign, Illinois. The following item was brought to our attention.

"On April 30, 1973, the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee passed an act to ammend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-2008. This act states, in part, that:

‘Any biology textbook used for teaching in the public schools, which expresses an opinion of, or relates to a theory about origins or creation of man and his world shall be prohibited from being used as a textbook... unless it specifically states that it is a theory... and is not represented to be scientific fact.
