ABSTRACT

It was my privilege to attend the Third World Conference on Animal Production in Melbourne, Australia, May 22–29, 1973. This Conference was sponsored by the World Association of Animal Production (WAAP), the Australian Society of Animal Production, and the Commonwealth and State Government of Australia. I represented the American Dairy Science Association at meetings of the Council of WAAP held in conjunction with the Conference.

The stated purpose for the World Association for Animal Production is to "promote through international cooperation, world conferences on animal production for the purpose of reviewing scientific, technical and educational problems in animal production". Membership consists of animal production associations and societies established on a national or continental basis. The World Association for Animal Production was formally constituted on 25 May 1965. Charter members were the American Dairy Science Association, American Society of Animal Science, Australian Society of Animal Production, Canadian Society of Animal Science, European Association for Animal Production, Japanese Society of Zoo-technical Science, New Zealand Society of Animal Production, and South African Society of Animal Production.
