Dr. H. K. Wilson, Sr., associate professor of dairy technology at the University of Illinois, retired August 31, 1972. His 40-year varied career included health department responsibilities, active participation in may facets of processing and manufacturig in the dairy industry, teaching and research.
Harold Wilson was born on October 7, 1904, in Oklahoma and attended public school in Danville, Illinois. He enrolled in the dairy manufacturing curriculum in the College of Agriculture and received the B.S. degree from the University of Illinois in June, 1929. Granted a California Ice Cream Institute Fellowship, Harold received the M.S. degree from the University of California at Davis in 1930. He continued graduate study at the University of Illinois on a fellowship from the International Association of Milk Dealers and received the Ph.D. degree in 1932.
He operated a mobile laboratory and inspected plants for the Illinois Department of Health, followed by 16 years of being superintendent, manager, and director of laboratory control and research in midwestern and eastern dairy plants.
