ABSTRACT

In my comments in the March 1973 issue of the journal, I mentioned a committee which had been appointed to represent our Association in discussions of the new nutrient labeling regulatinos proposed by the Food and Drug Administration. This committee, composed of H. E. Calbert, D. M. Graham, and W. M. Roberts, has been very active. I have been advised by Chairman Calbert that the committee met in Washington, D. C., on March 13 to 15, 1973, with representatives of the Milk Industry Foundation, the Evaporated Milk Association, and the American Dry Milk Institute. From this group a task force was formed which met with personnel of the Food and Drug Administration to discuss regulations pertaining to labeling of milk and milk products and to establish procedures for complying with these regulations. The task force also prepared a protocol for a study to establish guidelines for nutrient labeling of selected dairy products.
