Dr. I. A. Gould retired from The Ohio State University, Columbus, December 31, 1972. Dr. Gould joined Ohio State in 1949 as Chairman and Professor of Dairy Technology and served with distinction in that capacity until 1970 when he relinquished the chairmanship to assume leadership of the University's AID program in India.
Dr. Gould received his academic training in Dairy Manufacturing and Dairy Industries and earned the B.S. degree from West Virginia University in 1931, the M. S. degree from Michigan State University in 1933, and the Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1938. Dr. Gould served as a faculty member at Michigan State University from 1933 to 1944 and at Maryland University from 1944 to 1949.
An excellent teacher and researcher, Dr. Gould taught courses in dairy foods manufacturing and evaluation, dairy chemistry and analysis, and dairy plant management. His research has covered a wide range of microbiological, chemical, and physical chemical aspects of milk and all major dairy foods.
