Floyd Arnold, long-time dairy leader and educator, received the Keeling Dairy Leadership Award at the Iowa State Dairy Association noon luncheon October 31 at the Hotel Savery in Des Moines. Robert Ellis, president of the Association, presented the award, which is made annually to an outstanding leader of Iowa's dairy industry in honor of the late Ralph Keeling. Arnold was cited for his leadership contribution to the dairy industry on the local, national, and international levels.
Arnold, a native of Woodbury County, served on the staff of Iowa State University as an extension dairyman from 1927 to 1960, with the exception of four years on the staff of the university of Maryland. He retired as full professor in 1960 to accept an assignment with the Agency for International Development (AID) in Thailand where he served for two years and worked on a program of reorganizing Thailand's Extension Service. In January, 1963, he accepted an Iowa State University appointment to Uruguay, South America as Chief of Party on an ISU/AID contract.
