Dr. Arthur W. Rudnick died June 14, 1973, after a long illness. Born on March 8, 1917, in Ames, Iowa, the son of an extension specialist in dairy manufacturing, Art received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Iowa State in 1939 and 1940. The following two years he worked for the National Butter Company in Dubuque, Iowa. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army to serve as a medical lab technician. From 1945 until 1948, when he returned to graduate school at the University of Minnesota, he was an editorial writer for Dairy Record, Inc. In 1954 he was awarded the Ph.D. degree in dairy manufacturing. He joined the Dairy Section at the University of Kentucky as an assistant professor in 1955. He was promoted to associate professor in 1961.
While Art's career was devoted to teaching and advising undergraduates, he did find time for research. Most of his recent research involved the effectiveness of television in teaching compared to live lecture and ways to improve teaching of undergraduates.
