Published by Lea and Febiger, Washington Square, Philadelphia, Pa. 19106 – 373 pages. Illustrated. $14.50

ABSTRACT

This book represents an outgrowth of the author's teaching efforts for agricultural students in which preventative veterinary medicine and disease control are emphasized.

As described in general publicity of the book by the publishers, the book is divided into seven parts. "Part One deals with agencies concerned with eradication of diseases of economic or public-health importance, and methods and procedures by which eradication and control may be accomplished. Part Two is concerned with specific diseases of economic importance. Part Three is concerned with a few selected diseases best controlled by tactical measures. Part Four deals with exotic diseases that pose a threat to the livestock industry. Part Five points out the dangers of poisonous substances. Part Six deals with internal and external parasites most often encountered in veterinary practice. Part Seven is a list of selected references for further study".

The general format, when applicable, used in relation to the respective diseases includes a discussion of the etiology, factors influencing susceptibility, transmission, symptoms, pathology, diagnosis and prevention.
