ABSTRACT
The Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University's Department of Dairy Science and Department of Food Science and Technology at Blacksburg, hosted the 67th annual meeting of the American Dairy Science Association in the best traditions of southern hospitality. The site for this annual meeting was well-chosen and timely.
Geographically and historically, Blacksburg and environs abound in recreational and historical tourist attractions such as the world famous Natural Bridge; Lexington and Appomattox; Abingdon and the Barter Theater; White Sulphur Springs; Hot Springs; Peaks of Otter on the Blue Ridge Parkway; Staunton, birthplace of Woodrow Wilson; and other more distant historic points are Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jarnestown, and Monticello.
The Commonwealth of Virginia, known as far the Old Dominion and one of the 13 original states, was the 10th state to ratify the constitution in 1788.
Virginia led in the movement for national independence early in the 17th century.
