He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the Connecticut Agricultural College at Storrs, in 1917 and subsequently served with the 27th Infantry Division in France during World War I. Professor Mead received his M.S. degree in dairy production at the University of Minnesota in 1920 where he studied under the famous scientists Dr. C. H. Eckles, Dr. L. S. Palmer, and Dr. R.
