ABSTRACT
A variety of methods useful in studies of mineral element utilization by cattle have been briefly compared and the advantages and disadvantages of each discussed. These methods include regression and radioisotope procedures for estimating mineral availability and requirements, in vitro and in vivo techniques for identifying gastrointestinal sites of mineral absorption, and methods for assessment of the animal's mineral status.
