Retirements, E. B. Oberg and M. P. Keeley

ABSTRACT

After about twenty-eight years of service with Carnation Company, Dr. E. B. Oberg is retiring. For twenty-three years he served as Director of Research and for the last five years he was Director of Coordination and Planning.

Dr. Oberg was born on a farm near Nepon-set, Illinois and has always retained his interest in agriculture. As a youth he was in 4-H work raising Duroc Jersey hogs. He was valedictorian of his high school class, attended Augustana College briefly, and held a four-year scholarship at Illinois Wesleyan University. His Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry was conferred by Northwestern University where he first held a university fellowship, and later an Eastman Kodak Company Fellowship for research.

He is a member of Theta Chi (social), Alpha Chi Sigma (chemical), and Sigma Xi (honorary scientific).

After Northwestern, where he met his future wife, E. B. worked in the organic division of U. S. Gypsum Company, the chemurgy division of the Glidden Company, and was research director of Central Soya Company for four years just prior to coming with Carnation at Milwaukee in 1943.
