ABSTRACT

Methionine hydroxy analog was determined in rumen contents after extraction of acidified contents with ethylacetate and reaction with a silylating reagent to form a trimethylsilane ester which was measured gas chromatographically. Recoveries averaged 76.9% in rumen fluid, 76.5% for centrifuged rumen fluid, and 75.7% for screened rumen fluid in the range of 10 to 480 µg/g.
