ABSTRACT

The strength and effectiveness of any organization is directly related to its membership. Normally, the quality and activity of an organization's membership are much more important than total numbers.

The American Dairy Science Association has a somewhat limited potential for the size of its membership. The number of scientists working in this area has not been increasing to any great extent. What we lack in numbers we try to make up in quality and activity. It is not an easy task to maintain the membership of ADSA, to say nothing of increasing it. While the Membership Committee has primary responsibility for maintaining the membership level and increasing it if possible, it is also the responsibility of each member to do his part.

Our Membership Committee is under the able chairmanship of Darwin G. Braund. He has representatives from each of the states serving the committee. This committee has been doing a tremendous job in contacting old mombers for renewals and attempting to increase our membership.
